Faith of the Farmer
He knows that faith can move a mountain
And faith can calm a raging sea
And he demonstrates the greatest faith
By planting a tree
He has faith in his country,
He has faith in his family,
He has faith in the love of God above,
And faith in things unseen,
(Chorus)
And he has faith, he has faith in you,
He knows you’re giving him,
The very best that you can do
Hand in hand, together there’s work to do
He has faith, He has faith in you.
No man is an island,
Nobody stands alone
You have to depend on faithful friends
To help you with your load
A friend you can rely on
To lend a helping hand
You’ve proven to him time and again
You’re the one who can
And he depends, He depends on you
He knows you’re giving him,
The very best that you can do
Hand in hand, together there’s work to do
He has faith, He has faith in you.
(Bridge)
You can be proud of what you do
You know it really matters
You know it makes a difference in the end
He may never know your name
Or have the chance to thank you
But year after year he chooses Pioneer.
‘Cause he believes, He believes in you
He knows you’re giving him,
The very best that you can do
Hand in hand, together there’s work to do
He has faith, He has faith in you.
"Faith of the Farmer" was a song written Pioneer Hi-Breds (the seed corn company) for a national sales presentation. Some of my friends were shocked to go to a national meeting and see my ugly face up on the screen! I wrote the song under great pressure for "Ink and Image" and recorded the song and video at Barn Burner Studio in Annawan, Illinois. I was very fortunate to have some very talented people in on the project such as Harry Heath, Matt Podschweit, and Jenny Jordan Frogley. You can check out the very 90's video on the video page.
