Love Songs



As a hopeless romantic, I have always loved a great love songs. Over the past few years it has been my joy to get to share some of the best of these songs with my friends. We have held numerous Love Songs concerts throughout the area and are always blessed by the friends we meet and by knowing that these songs help them and their mate to hold hands just a little bit tighter, and walk a little closer.

Forever Young

If there is one thing I can say for certain it is this; I am a true Rock Roll veteran.

My earliest memories of listening to Chicago radio stations WLS and WCFL for the latest top 40 songs and watching my favorite stars on American Bandstand  every weekday in living black and white..

While other boys his age dreamed of being firemen or cowboysI set my sights on a different calling. I would see the stars of the day, guys like Frankie Avalon, Fabian, Dion, Rick Nelson and, of course, Elvis, and think, Thats what I want to do when I grow up. The open door to that dream came with the British Invasion of the 60s headed, of course, by the Beatles.

My parents and grandfather joined forces to buy me my first guitar as an eigth grade graduation gift and within a few months I teamed up with another local teenager and we started a group. From that moment on I was hooked.

Along the way my life took a  dramatically different path from that earlier Rock and Roll dream. Frankly, I had my chances. I loved the music but I just didn't want to do what was necessary to be successful.  Instead of hitting the road in a rock and roll band, I settled in my hometown of Walnut, Illinois to raise a family and eventually, to Pastor a church.

I have been blessed with a wonderful life. Today my childhood sweetheart (and wife of 52 years) reside in Erie, Illinois where I am an associate pastor and one of the worship leaders of the Erie Evangelical Free Church..

Rock and Roll, however, is still a part of my life. I'm in my 70s now and I don't sing with any illusions of fame and fortune. Today I sing because I love to, because I have to, and I especially love the music I grew up on, the music that shaped my young life.
 
This music I sing is timeless, wonderful, joyful music and it needs to be sung with a spirit of joy. Hopefully, I do that and as a result people walk out with a smile on their faces.
